With so many more people now able to capture art through technology readily available at their fingertips, the Western Nevada College Fallon campus has decided to showcase this new pool of artists.
WNC Fallon presents the Smartphone Photo Show starting Wednesday and running through March 28 in Virgil Getto Hall Art Gallery.
Fallon art professor Gil Martin said that Fallon campus community was invited to submit photos from their smartphones for consideration for the exhibit. Photography instructor Robert Petersen and his students printed the photos included in the gallery.
“With the prevalence and ease of use of our smartphone cameras, Rob and I were wondering how the nature of personal photography has changed. The submissions have been high quality,” Martin said. “We keep getting submissions, and this show is really going to be interesting.”
A reception for the exhibit’s contributors is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Virgil Getto Hall.
