Series Continues Saturday
The Western Nevada College softball team was out-hit against NJCAA No. 14 College of Southern Idaho Friday. The Wildcats fell 11-0 on both ends of a doubleheader to open a four-game series in Twin Falls.
The Wildcats managed just five hits on the day while the Golden Eagles were allowed 23.
Western was able to hold the Golden Eagles scoreless for two innings in the opener. But the home team erupted for 11 runs on 11 hits, including runs by Whitney Littledike in the second inning and Shea Ibrahim in the third inning. WNC managed three hits, led by Megan Hospodka who went 2 for 2, and Katilyn Covione, who added one. Starting Wildcats pitcher Katilyn Covione took the loss, giving up nine runs on eight hits in 2.1 innings.
In the nightcap, WNC managed hits by Lindsey Ashbaugh and Covione. But the Golden Eagles outpaced the Wildcats with 11 runs on 12 hits.
On the mound, WNC’s Ashbaugh surrendered six runs on three hits in three innings, and took the loss.
CSI winning pitcher Brandi Hall struck out five, walked three and gave up only two hits. The series wraps up Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
