WNC Employee Awards

Employee of the Month: 2011-2012

Classified Council selects one staff member each month to highlight his or her outstanding contributions to WNC. Anyone from the college can nominate staff for this award. Profiles of the staff members selected are sent to the President's Office and a special celebration is held in the spring to recognize the outstanding achievements of these staff.

Kevin Myers - Computing Services (April)

Kevin is more than just an anonymous WonderDesk helper. He is always quick to respond to computer issues in the classroom or office. Kevin is always excited to help and is patient when training or helping me troubleshoot Windows/PC issues. It is easy to see that he cares about those of us who don’t understand computers so well, and when dealing with him you don’t feel “stupid”-- you know he will understand and work with you. Kevin takes the time to help you feel comfortable with whatever it is you are having trouble with….and acts like it is his pleasure! It’s a happy day when Kevin draws your WonderDesk request! Thanks Kevin.

Robert Conerby - HVACR Specialist (November)

Robert Conerby is shining in his role as Facilities Supervisor He is super-charging his already technically competent and experienced team. He has plenty of knowledge, solid decision making skills, a positive attitude, and good interpersonal skills. He also supports his staff, is dependable, and leads by example with a fun-loving demeanor. Best of all, he has great ideas and is always looking for ways to improve services to our students. Few people know that Robert is a nature lover and has been known to spend his personal time working to improve the greenery of the Carson campus.Being in charge of most of the facilities management staff is not an easy task, especially with the current budget restraints, but Robert handles it well. He has the respect of his employees and others.

Dustin Cheney - Building & Grounds (September)

Dustin is one of the hardest working employees on campus, said his nominater. Many times, he has assisted his fellow crewmen when they needed help. He always comes to work with a smile and a positive attitude. He deserves recognition for the good work he does.

Linda Ranieri - Development & External Affairs (August)

With all new staff in the WNC Foundation office, Linda has been an invaluable resource to the department over the last three months. She is quick to learn, easy to adapt, dependable and thorough, friendly to donors and pitches in with whatever is needed (even when that means arriving at 6 a.m. with coffee for event volunteers!) Linda brings critical financial expertise to the job, and is a wealth of knowledge on WNC policies and procedures. While getting up to speed in her current position (no easy task), she has also been putting in extra hours for Human Resources to help during this time of transition. Above all, she does everything with a smile.

Daniel Smith (July)

In a world where not too many people are willing to go out of their way to help, Dan Smith does. This was evident the other day when a fellow staff member had to take a large load of equipment to UNR Surplus, and needed help to load to machines onto the truck. He called for help and Dan immediately took time away from his lunch hour to come across campus, and brought another employee as well. Dan is helpful, friendly and courteous to all WNC employees. He routinely checks departments and asks if everything is okay. If assistance is needed, he readily begins to work on a solution, and then checks back with departments to see if the problem is truly solved. This level of customer service and teamwork is a true value to our college, and is sincerely appreciated by all.
