WebCT Summer Online Workshops!
Who Should Attend?
WNCC employee's and invited guests who plan on teaching online are welcome. Full time, part time, staff, faculty, classified, administrative...it doesn't matter. If you're planning on using the Web in your class, whether it is a blended class, a Web enhanced course, or fully online, these workshops will get you ready to go.
Note: Web instruction is not for everyone, instructors or students. Please think long and hard before committing to putting up a Web class. Ideally, one would do the training then commit to the class. Having said that, understand that it can be done, and you'll have a full cadre of support and help on your journey.
What's Offered?
You can become online qualified at WNCC in two ways:
- Complete the traditional on-campus blended workshop. This workshop meets online for ten days prior to three half-day workshops on campus. Individual, hands-on help is provided for the on-campus sessions. At the end of the workshops, you'll have a great start on integrating the Web into your classes. On-campus workshops will be offered this fall.
- Complete the three online WebCT training classes. Each class lasts 7-10 days and begins and ends with a required Horizon Live! session. That's the only time that you are "time-bound." The rest of the time you're working pretty much independently, although the instructor is always available for help, should you need it. The three workshops are sequential; you need to take them in order. The schedule for the workshops is listed below. The Horizon Live! sessions will be the first and last day of each workshop (6/5, 6/14, 6/23, 7/3). The sessions on 6/14 and 6/23 will include both the wrap-up from the previous workshop and the introduction to the next. Click on the workshop name to see the syllabus.

What's Next?
That's a good question! The first thing you need to do is to let me know that you want in on the series. I need at least three participants to make running the workshops worthwhile, so round up your friends!
