Obtaining, Installing, Registration, and Configuration

Getting AceFTP3 Free

  1. Login to: AceFTP3 Freeware.
  2. Click on the "Download AceFTP3 Freeware now!" link at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click on one of the links to begin to download the file: aceFTP3free.exe.
  4. Keep clicking download links until you are asked if you want to open or save the file. Select "Save".
  5. Take note of where the file will be saved (My Documents?) and the filename: aceFTP3free.exe. That way, if you forget where you put it, you can search for it.
  6. Click "Save" begin the actual download.
  7. When the download completes, if necessary click "Close".

Installing AceFTP3 Free

  1. Shut down all other programs that you have running.
  2. Right click the "Start" button and select "Explore"
  3. Navigate to where you stored the downloaded aceFTP3.exe file.
  4. Double-click aceFTP3free.exe to begin the installation.
  5. When the product splash screen appears, click "Next" to begin the install.
  6. At the licensing screen, click the "I accept" radio butto and "Next" to proceed.
  7. Click "Next" to accept the default location to store the application.
  8. At the "Options" screen, if you do not want a shortcut to the FTP program on your desktop, deselect the shortcut radio button.
  9. Click "Next", then "Finish" at the final installer screen. If you left the "Start AceFTP" radio button checked, the program will run and you can continue with the registration process.

Registering AceFTP3 Free

  1. Fill in your email address as requested.
  2. Click the button to obtain your registration code.
  3. Complete the items as requested. You can elect to receive notifications if you wish, but they are not mandatory.
  4. When finished, check your email. The response with your registration code is almost instantaneous.
  5. Open the message from Visicom Media.
  6. Scroll down the message until you come to the registration code.
  7. Click and drag across the code to highlight it, then copy it with the copy button on your toolbar, or with "Edit-->Copy" from the menu bar, or take the simple way out and press "Ctrl+C".
  8. Close your email program and return to the AceFTP3 Free registration screen.
  9. Click in the registration number box and paste the stored registration code into it with the Paste button, "Edit-->Paste", or my personal favorite "Ctrl+V".
  10. If necessary, click "Next" and proceed as directed until you see AceFTP3 Free live and in living color.

Configuring AceFTP3 Free

OK, now all we have left to do is to set up your site so that the program knows where to connect .

1. Click the FTP icon in the toolbar.

2. The FTP Site screen appears

3. Double-click "New Site Profile"

 

4. The New Site Profile Wizard starts.

5. Enter the name by which you want your connection to show when you click the FTP icon in the Descriptive Site window.

6. Enter the FTP server name as given to you by your provider (usually "ftp.yoursitename.com" or similar, with 'yourservername' being the name of your server)

7. Enter your User ID exactly as given to you by your host.

8. Enter your password exactly as given to you by your host.

9. Click "Finish". You would click "Next" only if directed by your host to provide a local and remote directory folder.

10. The Site Profile screen will re-appear with your site listed. Simply double-click your site to connect!
