Hello, and welcome to WNC's Online Learning 101! If you've enrolled in an online class from us, or even if you're just considering it, you've come to the right place. The purpose of this site is to acquaint you with some of the differences between face-to-face learning and distance learning, and to help you assess how suitable Web classes might be for you.

The items in the list on the left will guide you down a path that will, hopefully, answer many of your questions and calm some of your anxieties. Are you considering taking an online class? If so, you should probably begin with "Are Web Classes for Me?" It will explain a few of the differences between online classes and on-campus classes and help you decide whether or not your individual personality and learning styles fit into the model of a successful distance learner.

As you move through the listing, you'll learn about what skills you need, the equipment and software that is required to take an online class, how the classes are delivered to you, and even find some resources to help you get started on this new adventure. It's not an exhaustive list, but it should be enough to get you started.

If your class is delivered using Blackboard CE6, you'll undoubtedly wish to complete the "CE6 Student Orientation ". Blackboard CE6 is an online delivery package used world wide by colleges and universities to provide a common environment for their online courses. Many of our courses use Blackboard CE6. You can contact your instructor to check and see if their class is one of them.

Online education is different from a traditional classroom, and a complete review of this guide before beginning your first online class can give you a running start at a successful online learning experience. It's also a valuable resource to which you can return should you have questions during your class.

Again, welcome, and best wishes as you start this new journey.
