Student Ambassador is a paid position - 20 to 30 hours per semester. Deadline for Applications: Friday, September 30, 2005, 5:00pm Student Ambassador Application (PDF) The Student Ambassador program is designed to engage prospective students and recruit at high schools, speak to civic organizations, conduct campus tours and assist during WNC activities. Student Ambassadors promote WNC and personalize the college to prospective students, parents, and visitors. A WNC Student Ambassador is: - A team player dedicated to promoting WNC and becoming an effective leader

- An energetic leader who knows how to think big and motivate others
- A leader who knows that hard work and persistence are valuable traits
Activities Student Ambassadors are actively involved in college, industry, community and Student Ambassador activities. Some activities include:- Provide campus tours for prospective students, their parents and the public
- Represent WNC at recruiting events
- Make presentations about WNC at high schools
- Assist with college events and activities
- Sponsor community and campus outreach programs
- Participate in team building and goal setting retreats
- Attend monthly meetings
- Meet new people and make new friends

Selection Criteria The selection process includes and application and interview with Student Ambassador selection committee. Students selected to join this enthusiastic group should have:- Good academic standing and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
- Availability to work a flexible, 20-30 hour work schedule per semester
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- A positive personality and an enthusiasm
- A sincere desire to represent WNC
- Ability to work well with others
- Knowledge of WNC and its programs
- At least one semester remaining prior to graduation
Code of Ethics - Appropriately represent WNC when serving in the capacity of a Student Ambassador
- Be prompt to all activities and function
- Respect the opinions of others
- Uphold the ideals and principles of Western Nevada College
- Dress neatly and appropriately for all official occasions
- Demonstrate courtesy and professionalism at all times
- Refrain from the use of alcohol, drugs and tobacco while serving as a Student Ambassador
- Become educated about the history and purpose of WNC
- Share the experiences and knowledge gained as a student at WNC
- Follow WNC Student Code of Conduct
