The Expert Institute's Annual Healthcare and Life Sciences Scholarship

Contest Overview

Without the technical insights provided by members of the healthcare and life science communities, attorneys would not be able to effectively seek justice for their clients. From prescription drug and medical device torts, to intellectual property disputes surrounding proprietary biological research, healthcare and life science professionals have become an essential part of American justice. In recognition of these vital contributions to the practice of law, The Expert Institute is offering a $1000 scholarship to students in medicine and the life sciences.

    The T.E.A.C.H. Program

    T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Nevada requires a partnership between the participating early learning facility, the teacher/scholarship recipient, and the T.E.A.C.H. Nevada program and staff.

    This partnership between T.E.A.C.H. Nevada, teachers, and early learning programs creates a cohesive effort toward improving the quality of the early childhood workforce in the state of Nevada.

    The four components of our program scholarship, education, compensation, and commitment - are addressed by T.E.A.C.H. Nevada, the scholarship recipient, and participating center through program requirements.

    Successful results in our partnership approach are reflected in our annual data on wages, teacher retention, and increased levels of professional development.

          • Mosaic Clinic Hair Transplant Center Educational Scholarship

            As a Houston hair transplant leader, we feel it is our responsibility to give back to the community and further advance the world of education. As such, the Mosaic Clinic is offering a scholarship for those who need tuition assistance. This will be paid directly to the school of the winning applicants.

            Criteria: Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in the United States of America and be a legal resident. Applicants will need to mail in a resume as well as a 500 word essay as to how they, or a family member, have been affected by hair loss. The thinning hair story can include details about the restoration journey, if applicable.

            This should be mailed to the Mosaic Clinic Hair Transplant Center attention of Scholarship Program. Our address is 2401 Yale St #2A, Houston TX 77008. Your application should also list your school information and details as to how the payment can be made directly the school in your name and towards your tuition. Winning applicants will be awarded $250.00. All rights of the produced work will be transferred and owned by the Mosaic Clinic. Applicant cannot be an employee, or related to an employee, of the Mosaic Clinic. Applicant can only apply once per 4 year cycle.

            RN to BSN Online Program is pleased to announce its 2015 scholarship program which will reward one fortunate college student with a $500 nursing scholarship.

            When does the process begin and end?

            Icing On The Ring Triumph Over Breast Cancer Scholarship

            Icing On The Ring is excited to announce our first Triumph Over Breast Cancer Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship was created to assist one achievement-oriented student who is struggling with or has survived breast cancer.

            Like so many in the community, we at Icing On The Ring have witnessed the devastating effects of breast cancer and its ability to completely overturn a life. That is especially true when an individual is working hard to put themselves through school. Although all college students face difficult obstacles, we believe that a disease like cancer should not be allowed to derail an aspiring student's dream. Our intention is to offset the financial burden to a student who is continuing to study despite their encounter with breast cancer with two $1000 scholarships, one in the Fall and the other in the Spring.

            Our Triumph Over Breast Cancer Scholarship is open to any student who is currently fighting breast cancer, in remission or has beaten breast cancer. Additionally, the student must either:

            • Be currently enrolled at an accredited university, or
            • Have been accepted to an accredited university

            Steinger, Iscoe & Greene Law Scholarship for Child Advocates

            The law firm of Steinger, Iscoe & Greene dedicates a large part of our practice to helping families who have faced child abuse in any form. We know that many future lawyers also hope to champion this cause, and we are pleased to offer a semi-annual $1,000 scholarship for a child advocate or abuse survivor seeking a law degree.

            We believe that attorneys stand in a unique place to be able to help families and individual victims of child abuse. While the damage that abuse causes can be life-long, a dedicated lawyer can help end abuse, establish legal protections for victims, win custody battles, and even secure compensation to provide medical treatment and therapy. These are the essential tools to protecting children and helping them manage and move past trauma as they grow.

            The Steinger, Iscoe & Greene Law Scholarship for Child Advocates is open to dedicated students who meet either of the following criteria:

            You have personally worked to protect children's rights or stop abuse either as a volunteer, as a counselor, in your professional work or by legal means.

            • You are an abuse survivor who wishes to use your own experiences to help others.
            • Additionally, all applicants must either be currently enrolled in or accepted to an accredited law school, or a current undergraduate student with the intention to go to law school.

            Auger & Auger Disabled Scholar Award

            Auger & Auger Attorneys at Law are proud to support the disabled students of America with the launch of their Semi-Annual Auger & Auger Disabled Scholar Award, awarded in both the Spring & Fall Semesters to one high-achieving, bright student intending to pursue an undergraduate college degree.

            As a personal injury law firm, our attorneys frequently represent families who are coping with the aftermath of serious injuries and disabling impairments. We observe firsthand the unique challenges that disabled men and women face and see the strength and perseverance necessary to overcome expectations.             EverSpark Interactive JJ Hennessey Honorary Epilepsy Scholarship

            EverSpark Interactive is proud to support deserving students with the launch of our first JJ Hennessey Honorary Epilepsy Scholarship. Named in honor of co-founder Jason Hennessey's son JJ who lives with epilepsy, this $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one high-achieving student with epilepsy.

            Having seen firsthand the challenges that epilepsy brings, we are eager to bestow this first annual scholarship. We recognize that epilepsy in all of its forms presents serious but surmountable obstacles at any stage of life, but particularly for college or university students seeking to complete their studies and begin a career.

            The JJ Hennessey Scholarship is available to achievement-oriented students who meet two key criteria:

            GreenPal Business Scholarship

            GreenPal's scholarship for Tomorrow's Entrepreneur has been awarded for 2014. We will begin accepting applicant entries for the 2015 period on November 1st, 2014 and will be awarding the spring award by May 30th, 2015. This is an evergreen scholarship and will be renewed annually.

            GreenPal believes small businesses are the backbone of our country's economy. Our CEO started his first company, a small lawn mowing business, in high school and grew the company while attending college, ultimately scaling the organization to over 100 employees. Having recently guided that company through acquisition by a respected national organization he wants to assist aspiring entrepreneurs attending college while starting or running a small business.

            The purpose of The GreenPal Small Business Scholarship is to assist a motivated, driven student and future business leader. We believe that the generation of today's students are the future employers of tomorrow. The future of our county will be forged by the entrepreneurial spirit of today's generation.

            If you currently run a small business while attending college or have a small business idea to start while you plan to attend college, see below for the instructions and criteria for applying for the GreenPal scholarship.

            Scholarship Eligibility

            Who is eligible to receive the awards? In the spirt of our founder, who founded his own lawn care company GreenPal's scholarship is open to any graduating high school senior, college freshman or sophomore who owns and operates his/her own small business, or has put together a business plan to start a business while in college. Additionally, the student must enter their freshman year at an accredited two- or four-year university, college or vocational/technical institute during the Fall of 2014.

            GreenPal will publish all essays to the GreenPal blog. Social Media shares will serve as a method of voting and will be used as a component for picking the annual scholarship recipient.

            Award Components:

            Scholarship is $2,000 paid equally over (4) semesters, This scholarship will be renewed each year with a new winner. Each winner will receive (4) awards of $500 for each semester completed.

            Criteria:

            1. Applicant must be graduating High School's Senior Class in 2015 or currently enrolled in a college of business with a 3.0 or higher GPA
            2. Applicant must demonstrate high ambition and desire to be an entrepreneur or business owner
            3. Applicant must have a declared major or minor in the college of Business, Economics, or Finance.
            4. Funds must be used for full-time enrollment at accredited two or four-year colleges, Universities, vocational or technical schools in the United States

            National Home Improvement Scholarship

            National Home Improvement is dedicated to "Building on Integrity" and in doing, so we are active in supporting our community. Change starts from the ground up and we want to help you build your foundation by giving $1000 toward your education.

            Veterans United Foundation Scholarship

            Veterans United Foundation, formed and fully funded by Veterans United Home Loans and its employees, strives to enhance lives by recognizing the selfless contributions of service members and their families through support of such individuals in need.

            Despite the aid of benefits like the GI Bill, the ever-increasing expense of a post-secondary degree is one of the greatest challenges facing so many of our nation's finest, and in an effort to address this need, Veterans United Foundation has established the Veterans United Foundation Scholarship program.

            The program's primary goal is to assist military service members and their families by awarding up to twenty $2,000 scholarships per semester to help pay for tuition and books.

            Scholarship Eligibility

            To be considered, the scholarship applicant must fall into at least one of the following categories:

            • A current active-duty service member in the United States Military
            • Veteran of the United States Military
            • Spouse of a service member or veteran of the United States Military
            • Surviving spouse or child of a fallen service member of the US Military
            • Child of a service member or veteran of the US Military

            The Veterans United Foundation Scholarship application will ask applicants to:

            1. Answer a series of questions regarding contact information, relation to the military, leadership experience, etc.
            2. Write an essay in response to one of four prompts given within the scholarship application
            3. Attach a photo of themselves only, which will be used on the website to announce scholarship winners
            4. Attach a copy of the DD214 or a Leave and Earnings Statement of the veteran or service member of interest. Example: If you are applying as a veteran or service member, you will attach your OWN document. If you are applying as the child of a veteran or service member, you will attach your mother or father's document. If you are applying as the spouse of a veteran or service member, you will attach your spouse's document.
            5. Attach a document that proves you are presently enrolled at an accredited college. Examples: official or unofficial transcript, class schedule for the current semester, letter from the college or university, etc.
            6. Sign and reattach a release form provided by Veterans United Foundation

            Requirements

            • Fill out the application
            • Personal/Extracurricular Statement Type a personal statement and limit your response to 500-1000 words. The statement should include your personal goals for the future, educational plan and career objectives, planned employment status during the school year, extra-curricular and volunteer activities, school and community activities, and a description of how you spend your time outside of school. Detail any academic honors you have received and your financial need.             Women Inspiring Service and Education (WISE) Scholarship

            WISE will be awarding one (1) Five Hundred ($500.00) scholarship. This scholarship is for Western Nevada College and/or Truckee Meadows Community College students and will be
            used for tuition and fees. Applications must be received by April 4, 2015. Scholarships will be awarded on May 1, 2015.

            AAUW Re-entry Scholarship

            The American Association of University Women (AAUW), Fallon Branch, recognizes that local residents who wish to continue their education represent an important segment of our community. This $1,000 scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance.

            The scholarship funds will be administered through the college that the recipient designates and are given out in semester installments or the equivalent.In order to be eligible, the applicant must be a resident of Churchill County at least 25 years old and must have completed 12 credits of college work and hold a 3.0 grade point average (GPA). The applicant must complete nine or more semester credits (or the equivalent) each term with at least a 3.0 GPA during the upcoming year. Courses taken must be part of a prescribed program or certification at a regionally accredited institution leading to a recognized degree. This scholarship will be contingent upon meeting the above requirements.

            Criteria:

            • Must be pursuing a degree in education and planning to teach in a Nevada school.
            • Full-time (12+ credits) preferred; Half-time (6-11 credits) may be considered

            Application Requirements:

            • Write a short (one-page) essay describing your career and degree objectives.
            • Answer the following question: why do you think you should be chosen for this scholarship?
            • References from one instructor, past or present, and one community member, such as church, employer, scout or 4-H leader, etc.

            Requirements for the Naqvi Scholarship

            1. This scholarship is judged primarily on need basis, but does not exclude achievement standards.

            Veterans United Foundation Scholarship

            This Scholarship opportunity is awarded through the Veterans United Foundation (VUF). The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up of financial contributions from the employees who work for Veterans United Home Loans. Our employees strongly believe in supporting our communities, our military and their families.

            During this Spring 2015 scholarship cycle, VUF will be awarding up to two scholarships to eligible recipients. The amount of the award will range from $5,000-$20,000, as determined by the awards team.

            Award recipient must be:

            • A surviving spouse or surviving child of a fallen active duty service member or fallen Veteran of the United States Armed Forces
            • Currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a college or university by the fall semester of 2015
            • Pursuing a trade or professional certificate, associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, graduate, post-graduate or doctoral degree
            • Willing and able to submit a copy of your most recent FAFSA filing
            • Willing and able to have our company bring you to Missouri for an employee awards presentation (April 24-26)
            • Comfortable being interviewed, taped or recorded as part of the celebration event
            • Comfortable sharing your personal story and aspirations for the future with others
            • Willing to supply fallen parent or spouse military documents relevant to award criteria
            • Willing to supply VUF with receipts or invoices related to eligible educational costs as they are incurred in order to receive payment. Eligible costs include tuition, books, fees, school materials, and some aspects of room and board as determined by the Foundation. Payments may be made directly to the school or reimbursed to the award recipient.

            Award will be given based on the following criteria:

            • 2-3 page typed essay telling your story, explaining who you are, where your life has taken you
            • and what you hope to pursue through your college education and beyond
            • Financial need, as determined by the awards team based on FAFSA submission

            Wellcentive Annual Medical Scholarship for Veterans

            Wellcentive is proud to support future healthcare professionals with our first Medical Scholarship for Veterans. This scholarship will be awarded to one achievement-focused student intending to pursue a career in Medicine.

            Inspired by one of our co-founders who is a former United States Marine, Wellcentive stands in support of our armed forces who valiantly serve and protect our interests and citizens around the world, and especially those who wish to contribute to the field of Medicine. That's why we are awarding $1,000 to one veteran pursuing a Doctor of Medicine degree.

            Stephen Bufton Memorial Scholarships through ABWA

            The Reno Tahoe Express Network (RTEN) of the American Business Women’s Association, a national women’s networking organization, is offering its’ 2015 scholarship worth $1,000 to a deserving Nevada female college student. Each year, RTEN provides a Stephen Bufton Memorial Scholarships (SBMEF) to

            • A female student who is attending an accredited Nevada Community College
            • Must be citizens of the United States
            • Must be residents of Nevada and attending a Nevada Community College by August 2015
            • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
            • Applications must be completed, received and processed no later than March 15, 2015.

            The HubShout Online Marketing Scholarship is designed to help students who are on the path to any type of business or marketing career that will involve online marketing. Students who have completed at least one year of post-secondary education, have at least a 3.0 GPA and are working toward a career in business or marketing are encouraged to apply.

            MyBookBuyer.com Textbooks for a Year Scholarship

            The Textbooks for a Year scholarship is a 750-1,250 word essay contest. One grand prize of $1,250 and one runner-up prize of $250, to the winning students will be awarded in the Fall and again in the Spring.

            Tribal Scholarships

            For those who are Native American, your tribe or nation may offer college scholarships. To learn more, contact your tribe or call the regional office of the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Sacramento at (916) 978-6058 or visit the BIA website.

            Many tribes and the BIA require a "needs analysis" from your college's financial aid office to document eligibility, so be sure to file your FAFSA early.

            Women's Independence Scholarship Program (WISP)

            About the scholarship

            The Women's Independence Scholarship Program (WISP) was created in 1999 to help formerly battered women overcome barriers to the education necessary for their becoming employable and financially stable. The primary intent is to help single mothers with young children who have the greatest financial challenges (childcare costs, etc.) to gain work skills so they can support their families. Our funds target women who are in desperate financial situations and absolutely must have both an education and our funds to assist them.

            WISP Program Eligibility Criteria

            A woman who meets the following requirements is eligible to apply:

            • Survived intimate partner abuse & has been separated from their abuser a minimum of one year;
            • Is a citizen or legal resident of the United States;
            • Has applied to or is officially accepted into an accredited course of study at a United States institution;
            • Demonstrates a critical need for financial assistance;
            • Exhibits a strong desire and the ability to complete a training and/or academic program;
            • Has a definite plan to use the desired training to upgrade skills for career advancement, to train for a new career field, or to enter or reenter the job market; and
            • Has sought services from a non-profit, domestic violence agency for a minimum of 6 consecutive months, and this agency is willing act as sponsor by mentoring and providing support to the student throughout her educational experience
