At The Law Offices of Joel J. Kofsky, we understand how challenging it can be to meet the costs of an undergraduate or a graduate education. Students and their families can expect to spend tens of thousands of dollars on their education, which can be a huge financial burden. Between the costs of tuition, fees, books, supplies, and living expenses, students are often faced with taking out large student loans in order to fund their education which can take years to pay back.
We believe that a good education is a valuable investment for the future and that financial limitations should not be a barrier to achieving that goal. To that end, we are pleased to provide financial assistance for students who are currently attending or are planning to attend college or graduate school. We will be offering a $1500 scholarship, beginning in the year 2016, which we will award to a student to aid with their college or graduate school costs.

Your essay should describe what safety precautions and traffic laws should be emphasized and how you plan to educate the public on the importance of these precautions and laws.

In addition to your essay, please write a brief paragraph describing the school program you are attending or are planning to attend. The DREAM Act (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors) was first introduced in 2001 to benefit foreign aliens and their children seeking new lives and new opportunities in the United States. Although the act has not been passed by Congress, and despite resistance from many legislative and judicial bodies, executive action from President Obama enacting key portions of the DREAM Act represents progress for immigrants everywhere.
There is still much to be done, however, before immigrants can enjoy the full benefits of a clear path to U.S. citizenship, and many individuals will strive tirelessly in social, political, and legal arenas in order to achieve the necessary reforms. It takes a special kind of person to advocate for justice - a person who is willing to champion equal rights at the expense of certain privileges and exclusive beliefs held by many individuals and groups in our country. Now, more than ever, the individuals who desire to make a measurable difference in the area of immigration reform must be well educated, highly motivated, and have a hands-on understanding of the issues and policies in the U.S. and around the world.
The April Cockerham DREAM Act scholarship is designed to support individuals who are interested in making a difference in the lives of immigrants and other non-native individuals living in the United States. By furthering the educational goals of these unique members of our nation, Ms. Cockerham looks to invest in a richer, more inclusive future for our country and those who seek to join it.
April Cockerham is proud to offer this $500 scholarship to students pursuing any level of post-secondary education who submit materials in accordance with the following guidelines.
The scholarship candidate must submit a 700-word essay or statement that considers current immigration conditions and reforms in the United States and offers at least twoconcrete ways that these conditions might be improved.
The winner of the April Cockerham DREAM Act Scholarship will be announced in June of 2016.

General Scholarship Information & Application Form
Here at John Foy & Associates, we are known as the "Strong Arm of Georgia". We are a tough Georgia law firm that will fight to the finish for our clients. But our associates know that not every battle is fought in the courtroom. Fighting a disease requires more than a legal "Strong Arm" - it requires a dedicated team of medical staff, loved ones and countless more. Fighting leukemia requires determination, drive and diligence in both the patient and the patient's loved ones. Often, the battle is a solitary one, isolating the patient and family. Our firm associates recognize this. That's why we are delighted to introduce the first-ever John Foy & Associates "Strong Arm" Leukemia Scholarship in time to honor Leukemia month in September. Our $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one college student who has battled leukemia or whose life has been affected by it.
"We are honored to be a part of this brave community," said firm founder John M. Foy. "We started this scholarship to raise awareness of the issues that face leukemia patients and their family members."
Leukemia is the most common cancer in children and teens, and it’s one of the most diagnosed in adults. A phenomenal amount of medical research has been successful in raising the survival rate in children from 10% in the 1970s to more than 80% today. If you or someone you love have been affected by this disease, you have already been in the fight of your life. Now you have a chance to attend college and move in a positive direction, by educating yourself to secure a brighter future. As attorneys, we appreciate the intrinsic value of a college, not just as a formal education but also as a way to advance your life. Let us help you help yourself.
The John Foy & Associates "Strong Arm" Leukemia Scholarship is open to high-achieving college students who meet this criteria:
To apply, you must write a 500 to 1000 word essay on one of the three topics listed below and submit an official high school or college transcript. You may only apply online at this website.
Our attorneys will determine a selection committee to choose the winner and the winner will be announced publicly through the media and featured on our website. It is our hope that our scholarship program will inspire young people who have been affected by this very common type of cancer to lead inspired lives.

The McKenzie Law firm is pleased to announce our first scholarship award for students who seek to further their educational goals. Education costs have risen over the years and often the burden to pay these costs are too high for students alone. As an estate planning lawyer Dan McKenzie has seen what can happen when individuals do not plan ahead. The McKenzie firm has found that planning for these costs often comes from advanced future planning on the part of the students' parents. The Legacy Planning Scholarship seeks to bring awareness to students about advanced financial planning and fiscal responsibility.
Candidates must submit an original essay based on the following:
Imagine that you are 80 years old and you are only now planning your will. What would you want your legacy to be? Write a letter from your ideal future self to your current self, explaining what you will accomplish over the next 10 years, how you will accomplish it, and what the continuing impact of those accomplishments will be after you are gone.
Submissions will be evaluated based on thoughtfulness, as evidenced by the originality of your goals, the level of consideration given to how you will accomplish them, and how realistic they appear to be. Don't assume that a general desire to save the world or cure cancer is more impressive than a plan to provide for a certain family member if the plan to provide for the family member has clearly been carefully thought through and can realistically be achieved.
There is no minimum or maximum length requirement, but we expect that the winning essay will fall somewhere between 750 and 1,500 words.
Scholarship Award: $1,000
The Legacy Planning Scholarship will be awarded to a student based on his or her application
All applicants agree that by submitting an application, The McKenzie Law Firm may post essays and any images provided by the applicants on all affiliated firm websites and social media platforms. No names or other identifying information will be attached to posted essays without the applicant's written permission.

At TrichStop we believe that spreading awareness about BFRBs (body focused repetitive behaviors) is key for making treatment available to people affected by these disorders. As part of our advocacy efforts, we're offering a bi annual scholarship for students who are affected by Trichotillomania.
Trichotillomania affects its sufferers in multiple ways, both physically and emotionally. The emotional burden of this disorder can be even more significant for students, due to added stress that originates in study efforts, and due to social factors. Indeed hair pulling prevalence among college students can be as high as 3.4% in women.
