One sure-fire way to celebrate the start of a school year is to hold a barbecue.

Western Nevada College’s student government group is providing students on the Carson City and Fallon campuses with Welcome Back BBQs on Sept. 4 and 11.

Celebrate the start of WNC’s 2019-20 school year by attending the Associated Students of Western Nevada’s Welcome Back event on Wednesday, Sept. 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the Fallon campus. This celebration will include sandwiches, refreshments, ping-pong and cornhole games, music provided by Oasis Academy, popcorn and raffle prize giveaways.

Students who attend the celebration have a chance to win a backpack containing a new Kindle.

Then, on Wednesday, Sept. 11, students on the Carson City campus will have an opportunity to partake in this late-summer custom from noon to 2 p.m. in the Rotary Plaza. In addition to the BBQ, music and games are planned.

In addition, ASWN is holding a Club Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. that same day in the Rotary Plaza, giving students the opportunity to learn about clubs and organizations on campus and the chance to join the ones that interest them.

Enjoy a tasty way to start the school year!
