General Information

I. Catalog Course Description

Provides a personal introduction to the study and performance of music for euphonium. No previous musical training required. Class may be repeated for a total of 4 credits. Fee covers cost of 14 half-hour private lessons.

II: Course Objectives

By the completion of the class, the students should, with an accuracy of 75%:

  • Read music for euphonium
  • Correctly interpret rhythms
  • Have correct posture and embouchure
  • Play three different scales and arpeggi per semester
  • Perform lower-division repertoire for the euphonium
  • Play in ensemble with other instruments
