Western Nevada College Automotive Technology students have cause for celebration.
Students combined to pass 45 Automotive Service Excellence exams, and the class placed five students and a teaching assistant into jobs at local tire and auto shops.
“I’m very pleased,” said WNC Automotive Technology Instructor Jason Spohr. “Five out of our eight students got jobs \, so that’s pretty good.”
Many of the students found jobs in the local area.
“That’s like the Mecca for auto repair in this area,” Spohr said. “There are 20 repair shops in a one-mile radius.”
According to Spohr, Ryan Triplett and Donnie Swafford have been hired by Tires Plus in Gardnerville. Other repair shops to hire WNC students are Les Schwab Tire Centers in Carson City, Jacob Bauman; Les Schwab Tire Centers in Gardnerville, Ryan Kraten; Gesselman’s Garage in Gardnerville, Hector Figueroa; and All American Auto in Gardnerville, Michael Atkinson.
Bauman and classmate Alex Ochoa were part of the Jump Start College, representing Carson High School.
