Western Nevada College students and staff members celebrated the opening day of Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month and the beginning of Latin American Independence Days with music and savory cuisine on Thursday, Sept. 15, on the Carson City campus. Trio Bossanova of Reno (Benjamin Trujillo, Angel Rodriguez and Martin Hislop) provided mariachi music, while the Wildcat Den served delectable fajitas. Brave students (middle photo), Aztlan Carrillo, left, and Diana Gurrola, right, and WNC Student Life Coordinator Lilly Leon-Vicks even performed the Macarena.
Students, faculty, staff and the public were also entranced by touring poet/actress Gabriela Garcia Medina during her performance at Western Nevada College on Sept. 19. The event was hosted by the Student Life department.
