The Douglas Campus Diversity Student Club's fall fundraiser was a solid success, attracting a full house at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden, and generating more than $2,000 for the Suicide Prevention Network of Douglas County and WNC student scholarships.
The club's fundraising evening included an Italian-themed, all-you-can eat buffet dinner, as well as a silent auction and performance by Forever Dance.
Approximately 150 people attended,
"That's three times more than last year's event. I want to thank everyone who came and showed support to our event," said Sergio Arteaga, the club's adviser and the Douglas campus manager.
Area businesses donated more than $1,000 in auction items, including a gilder ride and spa passes, to the event. Carson Valley Inn donated its ballroom and set up the event at no charge, while Forever Dance Lake Tahoe performed for free.
The Douglas Diversity Student Club, which formed in the fall of 2012, has previously held fundraisers to benefit the Douglas Animal Welfare Group in Gardnerville and Austin's House in Minden.
