Jean Way spent most of her professional career working with the public and students, so transitioning to manager of Western Nevada College’s Douglas campus created a perfect fit.
Way began her duties as campus manager prior to classes opening for spring semester on Monday, Jan. 25. She’ll provide students with enrollment forms and answer questions regarding registration.
“I was attracted to the position of office manager at the Douglas Campus because it gives me an opportunity to help students with the enrollment and registration process,†Way said. “I enjoy working with the public and with students, and want to assist them however I can.â€
Way will be available to assist students at the campus from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and from 2 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Prior to settling in Gardnerville in 2012, Way devoted most of her professional career to the travel industry. She worked as an agent, a branch manager and as a director of travel for two AAA clubs for 15 years. Way also served as a teacher for a year and worked for American Airlines.
Way received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Vermont while majoring in French and minoring in Spanish and history. She earned her Master of Business Administration degree with a focus in marketing from Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I.
Prior to retiring, Way shared her travel industry knowledge with AAA employees in Southern California who wanted to become travel agents.
“I developed curriculum, taught classes and shared my extensive travel experiences with students,†she said.
Way also works as a volunteer for the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park in Minden.
