Associated Students of Western Nevada
2018/2019 Election Candidates
Here’s a look at the candidates:
• Viridiana Miranda
My name is Viridiana Miranda, I want to be President for AWSN because of the opportunities and doors that open for students. I was appointed president after the former president resigned. I was Vice President at the time and chose to be a leader to the senators was important to me. I want to make improvements to ASWN to give students more of an opening to learn more about the college, and how the business end of this team works. Giving students the prospect to learn and give an opinion about fees, or anything else that might affect students for their academic success.
• Cinthia DelDuca
For Vice President
My name is Cinthia DelDuca and a mother of a four year old. I have been a student at WNC since Spring of 2015 and just earned my AA in the Fall of 2017. I am interested in being involved with ASWN because of the high enthusiasm from the student government office. I am employed at the Student Life Center, and I help out ASWN with any tasks they ask of me. I have become close to ASWN members, and already feel like a member. The personal qualities I would bring to ASWN is my creative, and energetic personality. I love helping people, and feel I would be a great addition to the family. I have not participated in activities on the WNC campus until recently, and I am excited in doing more for my fellow students, and community. I am committed to a full term of office: Fall and Spring semesters 2018-2019.

Students should vote for me because I am a creative person who will make good changes to the college.
• Aldo Padilla

I have been a volunteer for ASWN as representative and I volunteer for all of their events. I am also an athlete, I have been playing soccer for 5 or 6 years. This year I have been helping out with the soccer club of WNC. It was a club that was falling apart , but some friends of mine got together to help bring it back to life and we still are. In addition, I love this college and I want to make a difference for my fellow students.
• Keveen Padilla
I am Keveen Padilla. I am a student at Western Nevada College. I am interested in being a senator because I like interacting with the community. I also like meeting new people and I feel this position will give me many opportunities to help my community and my college. I have already done some volunteer work and have helped plan events with ASWN. These events help to improve important skills, such as communication and leadership. Being elected as a senator will be beneficial to the community that I love because the position will help me grow as a productive member of society.
• Larry Garcia
Hi my name is Larry, I’m currently running for the position of Senator for ASWN. Since my first semester I tried my best to help fellow students around the school to start my college experience with a bang. However through the upcoming weeks I found myself fond on Student Center and soon met current members of ASWN and made my best first impression. Now for this upcoming semester I feel ready to be a bigger part of ASWN. I already feel welcomed by the current student government and feel like I could work great with them and future ASWN members. A little bit of myself is that I try my best to be helpful with people within my certain expertise. Whether it’s helping someone with math homework, lending a hand with projects, giving helpful advice, etc… The point is for me helping isn’t something I will hesitate on doing when I have the opportunity. Like I say sometimes everyone just needs a hand through life. That’s why I feel like I would be a great part of this team. Student Government is meant to help the school lives of fellow students.
• Miriam Torres
My name is Miriam Torres. I play for WNC soccer, I am with the Latino Cohort that Lupe Ramirez runs and I have a lot of volunteer experience. I am interested in running for my position because I think I have good ideas for events we will have in the future.
