Professor Emily Howarth was recruited to join Western Nevada College in 2001 and has pulled from her experience as an Electronics Technician for the US Air Force and her Master’s Degree in Cyber Security to create and lead the Automation and Industrial Technology programs at WNC. She has developed and delivered programs in Advanced Manufacturing and Mechatronics for college credit that are unique in the Western US, focusing on tailoring industry credentials such as the MSI Manufacturing Technician and internationally recognized Siemens Mechatronics as the key building blocks to a skilled and educated workforce. Professor Howarth has fostered broad and deep employer partnerships and spends time on sites working with operational teams to ensure instruction is tied to production. Working between terms as an instructor trainer around the country, her expertise is in demand and reflected in her dedication to student success. As she completes her Ph.D. in Technology and Innovation Management, Professor Howarth will continue to be a high energy advocate for Northern Nevada industries.
