Regent Amy Carvahlo
Regent Amy J. Carvalho was elected to serve District 12 on the Board of Regents in November 2018.
She currently serves as chair of the Business, Finance and Facilities Committee and vice chair of the Community College Committee and Health Sciences System Committee. She is also a member of the Cultural Diversity Committee.
Regent Carvalho and her husband Tom own three 7-Eleven franchise locations. They first began their goal of business ownership in 2004 when they took a leap of faith and bought their first store in Boulder City. Since then, they have acquired two other locations in Las Vegas and Henderson. Regent Carvalho was honored to be selected for three terms by the corporation’s executive committee to serve as a member of the National Business Leadership Council, from 2012 through 2018. Regent Carvalho is proud that her business is a long-time supporter of local schools and the community.
Regent Carvalho is actively involved in community service. She was appointed by the Clark County Commission for two terms on the Boulder City Library District Board of Trustees, from May 2006 through May 2014. She was also appointed by Governor Sandoval to serve two terms on the Nevada Department of Education’s Council to Establish Academic Standards, from May 2009 through May 2015. Regent Carvalho is also a member of the Boulder City Sunrise Rotary Club.
Regent Carvalho has been a student of southern Nevada since 5th grade. She is a graduate of Rancho High School. She graduated from the College of Southern Nevada in 1993 and began attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. After taking a break from school to start a family, she returned to UNLV and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology in 2001. Regent Carvalho earned her Master of Business Administration from WGU in 2009.
Regent Carvalho also has two children.
