WNC offers several programs that can help high school students “jump start” their college education.
Jump Start College
The Jump Start College program is a dual-enrollment opportunity for students in selected Nevada high schools. Students enroll in college courses through Western Nevada College while simultaneously earning high school credits. Jump Start College participants are able to complete up to 60 college credits through WNC.
CTE College Credit
The CTECC program allows students to earn college credit for occupation courses taught at their local high school at no per class cost to the student.
Dual credit is a program that allows high school students to earn both college and high school credits simultaneously. Each high school in the WNC service area determines which WNC courses can also count as high school credit. High school students that successfully complete approved WNC courses may have the college credit also apply towards high school graduation.
WNC offers designated college courses via Internet or interactive video at a discounted rate to high school students. Fast Track courses generally cost only $50 plus lab fees where applicable. Only courses that are designated as Fast Track are offered at this reduced rate.
