Description:
The Development Office is seeking a student to assist the Development Specialist and Executive Director with daily office activities. Job Duties:
Program Coaches will serve first-generation Latino students who are enrolled in the program and are committed to take 15 college-level credits per semester.
All Cohort Coaches will be expected to responsibly perform the following duties:
- Mentor, guide, and support first-generation Latinos during their first semester in college
- Be responsible for enforcing program policies and procedures
- Attend all college-wide Cohort Coach meetings and trainings
- Attend and participate in the Team-bonding activities and Transition to College orientation
- Stay in regular contact with the Latino Outreach Coordinator by phone and WNC email
- Attend and participate on all group activities/meetings
Follow-up with the students from the LLA:
- Call/text students to make sure they are ready to start Fall classes
- Answer any questions the students may have about the program, when classes start, how to buy books, etc.
- Assist students to complete their scholarship application in the fall/spring
- Assist students to complete their FAFSA in the spring
Attend all classes in which your cohort is enrolled - Take attendance (email absent students and copy the program Coordinator)
- Take notes and prepare to provide supplemental instruction in each subject area
- Collaborate with the instructors on how you might best function to support his/her class and actively participate in those activities
- Communicate regularly with WNC instructors to share relevant information
- Communicate regularly with the Latino Outreach Office regarding calendars, daily schedules, facility use, and access to internet and information
Grade/Attendance reporting:
- Check grade updates in Canvas on a weekly basis and inform the Program Coordinator of any concerns
- Input class attendance on Absentee Log daily
- Input semester grades on Grades Log at the end of semester
Facilitate Supplemental Instruction sessions:
- Set up days/times to meet with students outside of the classroom

- Replenish media centers (fliers).
- Make testing packets, consent files, and other forms.
- Maintain confidentiality: put files away, don’t leave student info out on tables, don’t discuss students with people who are not ACCEL employees, lock all cabinets and secure keys.
- Maintain student supplies and work area: sharpen pencils, empty sharpeners, stock scratch paper, clean and sanitize work surfaces including tables, keyboards, mice, computers.
- General cleaning of space including dusting, vacuuming, and clearing the refrigerator.
- Power computers off at end of day and clean monitors.

- The Associated Students of Western Nevada (ASWN) is Western Nevada College’s student
government. ASWN’s purpose is to represent all students currently enrolled at Western Nevada
College through communication directed toward a united effort to enhance student life. ASWN is
responsible for addressing student issues brought before the organization and:
A. Make recommendations concerning student welfare to those persons responsible for
administration and college policies.
B. Enact legislation concerning student activities. Such legislation shall be consistent with rules,
