Notice of Upcoming NWCCU Accreditation Visit (April 4-6, 2018)

The Northwestern Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) will perform a comprehensive accreditation evaluation visit to Western Nevada College (WNC) on April 4-6, 2018. A NWCCU evaluation team will meet with campus students, faculty and staff to evaluate WNC’s accreditation status in conjunction with WNC’s 2018 Year Seven Self-Evaluation Report.

In preparation for the April visit, WNC invites members of the WNC community, as well as members of the general public, to provide comments regarding WNC’s qualifications for accreditation. All signed comments will be forwarded to the visiting evaluation team, and to NWCCU.

Comments should be sent directly to NWCCU by March 1, 2018, in order to be fully considered in the accreditation review:

WNC is currently accredited through NWCCU which was reaffirmed in 2011 after a Year One Self-Evaluation Report and visit in spring 2011. Since then, WNC has submitted a 2014 Mid Cycle Self-Evaluation and in 2016 an Ad Hoc Report which was accepted as meeting NWCCU’s expectations. Accreditation through NWCCU means that WNC meets the Commission’s established standards of educational quality and effectiveness.

A copy of NWCCU Policy A-5, Public Notification and Third Party Comments Regarding Year Seven Evaluations can be found at the NWCCU website: www.nwccu.rog (via the Accreditation, then the Standards & Policies and then Policies links, or by contacting the Commission office at 445.558.4224.)
