How to Earn the Nevada Promise Scholarship

To earn the Nevada Promise Scholarship, applicants must complete the following steps during their senior year of high school:

  • Complete Nevada Promise Scholarship Application no later than 11:59 p.m. October 31.
  • Apply for admission to WNC
  • Attend a financial aid training meeting offered by the college no later than December 30.
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and apply for a WNC Foundation Scholarship no later than April 1.
  • Meet with your assigned mentor at least once no later than April 30.
  • Confirm with your financial aid office that you have met all eligibility requirements to receive the scholarship.
  • Complete and report at least 20 hours of eligible community service no later than April 30.
  • Attend a second training meeting offered by the college no later than April 30.
  • Take a placement test, such as ACCUPLACER, ACT or SAT, per the college’s requirements.
  • Complete new student orientation at the college.
  • Register for at least 12 credits for each semester (Fall and Spring). (WNC counselors will assist students with this process).
  • Graduate from High School no later than June 30.
  • Go to college!
