Lavender is popular for skin care products with its fragrant scent, calming effects and beneficial medicinal properties. By creating a brand of skin care products, entrepreneurial lavender producers can benefit with year-round sales and increased name recognition. This workshop explores using lavender extracts for making skin care products for commercial sale including ingredients, recipe formulations, consumer safety and labeling requirements. The workshop includes a hands-on demonstration showing how to make lotion and a visit to a local lavender farm.

Dr. Cindy Jones of Colorado Aromatics and Sagescript Institute is a biochemist and herb farmer with extensive experience in physiology, toxicology, microbiology and cosmetic science. She and her husband have a farm in Longmont, Colorado. In addition to lavender, they grow herbs, vegetables, chickens and goats. Cindy’s passion for science and her love of herbs is the catalyst behind Colorado Aromatics skin care line. In addition to her teaching experience as a college professor, Cindy has lectured at seminars and conferences across the United States.
