Golf for Education Tournament is Sept. 29

Posted: June 2, 2017

Call it golfing with a purpose.

Local businesses and individuals can “Golf for Education” when they participate in the Western Nevada College Foundation and Northern Nevada Development Authority’s 18th annual Golf Classic on Friday, Sept. 29 at Silver Oak Golf Course in Carson City.

Funds raised from the tournament will help educate students at WNC so they, in turn, can help meet the region’s growing labor need in a number of industries, especially high technology.

There are a variety of ways businesses and individuals can contribute to this scholarship-generating effort. Organizers for the one-day event are seeking a tournament sponsor, event sponsor, BBQ sponsor, business team/tee sponsors and tee sponsorships. Players can also contribute by entering the scramble tournament as an individual or team.

Fees are $125 per player or $480 per four-player team. Participants receive tee prizes, a barbecue and awards ceremony, on-course refreshments, raffle prizes, poker run, hole contests, a margarita hole, team photos and more.

The WNC Foundation, founded in 1992, focuses on making positive differences in students’ lives through fundraising efforts that include special events and campaigns; employee giving; and individual, corporate and private foundation solicitations.
