Health: Medicare: Clear, Simple and Understandable: Meets on Wednesdays from 3 to 5 p.m. Feb. 19 through April 23. Course is designed for current or soon-to-be participants in the Medicare program or caregivers who are assisting Medicare participants. The course covers Medicare terminology, reimbursement, policy and procedures for claims. Parts A, B, C and D will be discussed with examples provided, as well as the Health Care Reform Act 3200 and its effects on the Medicare program (facts and myths). Participants must bring their Medicare & You booklet to class; they can be obtained from Medicare through the mail.
TEAS Nursing Prep: Overall and subject specific nursing school preparation classes offered. The 15-week program is available on Thursdays from 4 to 6:30 p.m. starting Jan. 23 and on Mondays from 4 to 6:30 p.m. or 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 27. There also are five-week options for math starting on Feb. 27 and March 10, as well as science-oriented prep classes beginning on April 3 and 10 and English prep classes commencing on Jan. 23 and 27.
Guest Service Gold Workshop: Earn Certified Guest Service Professional designation through this one-day workshop. Gain guest service skills necessary to excel in the hospitality industry. Successful students receive a certificate and a CGSPÂ® gold lapel pin. The first of three one-day workshops is from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 8. Additional workshops take place 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 7 and 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 1.
Math Bootcamps: For students who need to sharpen their skills in arithmetic and pre-algebra, there is a class offered before spring semester and two available during the semester. The Arithmetic and Pre-
Algebra Intense Bootcamp is offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, Jan. 7-17. During the spring semester, Arithmetic and Pre-Algebra Bootcamp is offered from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday from Jan. 21 through March 11 or March 25 through May 13.
R.I.P.P.E.D.: The Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics and Endurance Resistance exercise class helps the participant gain more energy through a high-intensity, total body workout program. Diet is also covered as part of the instruction. Brenda Kolling leads the classes and there are a number of options available, including from 5:45 to 6:50 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, Jan. 7-30; from 5:45 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. Monday and Thursday, Feb. 3-27; from 5:45 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. Monday and Thursday, March 3-27; from 5:45 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. Monday and Thursday, April 3-28; and from 5:45 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. Monday and Thursday, May 1-29.
Fun with Flowers: Design Course: For those interested in arts and crafts, this new floral class is meeting on from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays from March 29 through April 26.
Self Defense & Personal Safety: Womenâ€™s Self-Defense: Geared toward improving self-esteem and self-reliance in an unexpected situation. Learn to better defend yourself and learn strategies to avoid or get out of trouble. There are two classes to choose from February. 5 through March 5 and March 26 through April 23. Both classes meet on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Driver Education: The Carson City campus will host three sessions starting in February. The first session runs from Feb. 1 through March 1 and meets on Saturdays, the second section session meets on Saturdays from March 15 through April 5 and the final session is Monday through Thursday, April 14-17. All three sessions meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Introduction to Western Silversmithing: Design and fabricate jewelry using silver sheet and wire techniques in combination with other materials. Meets 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays from Jan. 13 through March 24 or March 31 through May 19.
Swing, Ballroom, Country and Western dance classes: Basic and intermediate classes are available to dance enthusiasts. The list of classes includes Beginning Ballroom Dance from 6 to 6:50 p.m. Thursday from Jan. 30 through March 13, Beginning Country Two Step from 6 to 6:50 p.m. Monday from Jan. 27 through March 24, Couples Western Dancing (Fallon) from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday from Jan. 22 through March 26, Intermediate Country Two Step from 6 to 6:50 p.m. Monday from March 31 through May 19 and Swing Dance Basics from 6 to 6:50 p.m. Thursday from March 27 through May 15.
