Western Nevada College venerated more than 40 associate degree nursing graduates during the nursing program’s traditional pinning ceremony on May 23 at the Carson City Community Center.
Besides recognizing its 41 graduates, WNC’s nursing program honored students for their academic excellence.
Bonnie Swenson and Elayna Cooper shared the Associated Students of Western Nevada Outstanding Student Award; Brian Noonan earned the Nurse of Achievement Award; the National Student Nursing Association Outstanding Student Award went to Diana Meza Cabrera; Marc Cota and Daryan Glenn received the Spirit of Nursing Award; and Kristin McBride was recognized as the Top Academic Student.
Nurse of Distinction awards went to Cara Pasccui, Renown Regional Medical Center; Margarita Navarro, Carson Tahoe Health; and Erin Gostin, Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
WNC President Chester Burton made welcoming remarks, while WNC Nursing/Allied Health Director Judith Cordia provided introductions and a welcoming speech. Class President Swenson and Anna Anders, Carson Tahoe Health vice president and chief nursing officer, also delivered speeches.
